Doctor Facilier entered the room, scanning the are around him with his purple eyes, still trying to understand how he had gotten himself lost in this strange grey maze.
He could tell he had been walking for hours around corridors that didn´t seem to end, and when he felt he was about to reach the end of it, he could only clench his fists in annoyance as he noted broken ladders scattered around where the exit should be.
It was pointless, ridiculous and made no sense.
Not to him, anyway...
Passing his bony hand on his plum lips, he narrowed his eyes, trying to once again sort out how the maze´s structure went by. It had to have some kind of movement for him to always land on the same spot. He could be alot of things, but idiocy was a trait he made sure no one remembered him for.
He could feel tension rise around him, as if the air slowly started to compress and grow heavier, making the oxygen´s way into his lungs a lot more difficult. Was he actually drowning in thin air?
"What kind of sadistic retard can actually...oh right." he thought as a frown once again manifested into his face. "This is gonna be a long night."
How he had gotten to this place was an interesting subject in of itself. He could clearly remember being in Hexxus´ headuarters, in the depths of a place whose location he was always taught to forget about the previous night.
He wondered if Eilonwy was doing alright without him. He hadn´t seen her in a while, and was wondering if she had indeed gotten out of the mess they had been dragged into alive...or if Thrax´s claw made its way into her guts first...
It was not the time nor place to feel sorry for anyone else, so he shook it off, and fixing his hat and clothes walked forward into the abyss of confusion.
His trademark smirk returned to his face when he heard a sound from the depth of a corridor. A child´s voice. Oh this was good. He´d just make a quick field trip there, take care of the kid and then get out of the joint. Simple plan, actually...
He sprinted forward after a while. He couldn´t hear the whispers of his friends anywhere, so he guessed Hexxus would have something to do with the situation. Too bad for the sludge bastard. He knew how to handle himself.
Moving his hand across the door knob, he felt a small ounce of pride on himself, for being able to trick Hexxus´ own trickery. He´d brag about this for a very long time.
His smile quickly faded into apathy, before his joy turned into awe, which in turn, turned into fear as he saw the young boy sitting infront of him.
"Not this again." his eyes widened as he turned back to reach for the door, which he just couldn´t find. "What? It was here a second ago! How could it-"
He gulped as he felt the young boy´s hand softly grab his coat, a cold drop of sweat pouring down his face as his eyes travelled to meet those of the boy.
His skin was wet and ruggy, almost like an old man lost inside a young prison of youth that was never his; he did not breathe, he merely coughed sometimes, water coming out of his lips and dripping on the floor, only for it to try instantaniously.
Facilier fell back when he stared straight into his eyes. Those eyes that were too familiar and were now completely hollow.
"I´m cold..." he boy whispered, coughing water again, his almost ghostly voice making the witch doctor´s blood run cold.
Facilier gulped, trying not to let out a scream. His lips almost trembled as he whispered that vague name he wished he didn´t know.
"L-larn..."
The boy looked at him and his small lips slowly curved into an innocent smile as he nodded. "Yes, Abe?"
"You´re-" Facilier tried to talk before being cut by a voice coming from the shadows of the room. A feminine voice. That terryfying sound he loved so much when he was little.
"Dead?" she said, finnally stepping out of her hiding place, making Facilier´s dark heart skip yet another beat. "Aren´t we all, honey?"
The Shadow Man shook his head, pushing Larn back to where she was. He had just noticed she had a hole in her forehead, even though blood didn´t pour through it, he could smell the gun powder in it.
"You´re all dead! You drowned, and Mok shot you!" Facilier pointed at them, taking a few steps back across the room, noticing a mirror coming out of the shadows.
"Who is Mok, Abe, honey?" his mother talked in her bittersweet voice, caressing Larn´s hair, her head tilting to the sides. "Don´t you think you should sit down? You seem a bit tired, baby."
"DON´T THROW THAT SHIT AROUND! DON´T YOU DARE SCREW WITH ME?!" Facilier shouted at them, clenching his fits, walking towards them with his cane in the air. "I´VE HAD IT WITH THESE GAMES, HEXXUS."
"Hexxus didn´t do this. You did." a raspy dark voice sounded from the mirror, as Facilier gulped and looked at it in disbelief.
"It can´t be...you´re shitting me." he cursed under his breath, slowly walking towards it, his cane in hand prepared to strike.
He knew who it was, but he couldn´t help but feel annoyed and disgusted when he saw Mok´s face in the mirror. Not his face. Mok´s.
"You´re dead. You´re all dead." Facilier murmured under his breath once more, his legs shaking as his heart pumped furiously against his chest.
"Who says that I ever lived?" Mok declared, looking at his nails. "Don´t all these people seem familiar, Abe? We´re you, boy. We made you. Or are you so blunt you chose to ignore that too?" the scientist mocked before Facilier´s cane slammed against the mirror, shattering it in thousands of pieces, a demonic laughter echoing through the room, even though Larn and Genevive didn´t move.
Breaking the shards even more with his cane and with vicious stomps, Facilier breathed in intensely, trying to find his cool.
"Why did you do it, you freak." he spat out at Mok, rage growing in him yet again.
"As I said before..." Mok whispered in Facilier´s ear, appearing right behnd him. "I didn´t do this. You did. You went crazy all on your own. There was never an expedition in Georgia all those years ago. Larn didn´t trip...I never existed until you wanted it to be like that."
"You shot her."
"No. She shot herself because of Larn´s death. And you pushed him. So it is your fault she died. Not mine."
"You´re lying."
"Am I? Am I really? Why do all the traumatic events of your life involve me...and you knew who I was from day one? Even before we had a talk? Abe...I am you. You can´t escape that. That´s why I never die. Because you never let me die. Because you need me. Because even though you and Aladdin were one...you and I are far more than that. Hexxus just made me step out of your mind into the real world. You drew everything else."
Facilier grabbed one of the shards on the floor, screaming in anger and hatred as he dug it on the scientist´s neck, blood splutering all over his face. He didn´t care, though and continued repeating the violent act until he had nothing left to stab on, Genevive and Larn still in place.
Succumbing to his knees, Facilier let his hat fall down, reverting to his child self, sobbing uncontrolably.
Larn and Genevive shook their heads and caressed his hair before leaving.
"Family is forever, Abe..."
Facilier opened his eyes, sitting quickly on his bed as sweat poured down his face. It was all a nightmare. Then it hit him. It all made sense now. Mok made sense...he made sense. Full circle. Never ending. Eternal. And he´d relive it for the rest of his life. His curse, his fault...his existence...his personal hell.
Abraham screamed.
Mok laughed.
