Mariana was about seven or eight years old, when the abuse started. She had always hated her father for it, when it began after her baby brother was born and she was no longer the crowned Princess. She would pray each night, that Proteus would need attending to; so her father didn’t have an excuse to show up to her room and teach her a lesson. Mariana was caught one night star gazing out her window and got a bad beating for it, just because her father had a bad day. Her mother never did anything, and that is what started her hatred towards her parents. You can say, Mariana, was your typical every day princess; but you would be wrong. No one knew the truth that happened behind those palace walls.
Mariana woke up on a nice morning and looked in the mirror. “Why me?” She questioned as she brushed her hair, and put on make-up to cover up the bruise on her face. She was to make an appearance in Neverland today, and she needed it to go well. So it wouldn’t give her father an excuse to hurt her. She had a hate for her brother, which would never fade. “Why did he have to be born?” She said softly as one of her nursemaids came in with her dress.
“Now Princess, be careful what you say.” The nursemaid said as she helped Mariana out of her nightgown and into her ceremonial gown. “Just pray today goes well.” The woman said as she fiddled with Mariana’s hair and put finishing touches in it. “You will do great, I know you will. You just need to believe things are going to get better” She said as she hugged Mariana tightly, something most people didn’t do. She was the only person Mariana believe truly cared for her. Mariana smiled sadly when she heard her father’s voice echo through the palace. “Time to go” The nursemaid said as she grabbed Mariana’s hand and gave a nice squeeze to it before sending her off.
Mariana was in the carriage with her father, King William. “Why do I have to show up, I am no longer the crowned Princess. Proteus should be here, not me.” Mariana said as she looked out of the window, hoping she didn’t offend her father. King William laughed “Your brother is ill, till he is well you will have to represent the Royal family; my sweet angel.” He said as he stroked her hair. Mariana shook; she knew that nickname all too well. She let out a sigh as she waited for them to arrive to the ceremony.
Mariana stepped out of the carriage with the help of one of the workers. “Time to shine, my angel” King William called to his daughter who was walking out onto the stage. Mariana held her smile and waved to the people, who all believed she would rule them one day. Off to the side, something caught her eye; Children without parents, running around and climbing buildings. What she wouldn’t give to be out with them, playing. She wasn’t paying attention and her father noticed. “Princess Mariana Renee” King William said in a stern voice as he was getting upset with her. Mariana cringed “Yes, Father.” She said as she felt him tug her arm slightly, she was in for it tonight. “We have to leave now” He said quietly as he wasn’t going to show his subjects how he treated his daughter. She smiled and waved bye to everyone as she hoped that when she got home, her mother would save her. She got into the carriage and rode off with her father glaring at her.
When she arrived home, she ran inside the palace and up to her room. “I screwed up!” She yelled into a pillow as she heard footsteps. “No, no, no” She said that was barley auditable, as she went and locked her bedroom door. She then made her way to her window, which was at least three stories off the ground. This was the first time she attempted to get away from her father. She heard her door knob turn as she stuck a foot out her window. “Please let me not hit anything soft, make father explain this one” She said as she heard her door open, one thing she hadn’t thought of, her father had a key to her room. She gulped and was about to leap, when she felt her bun get yanked out of place and she was thrown to the floor. “Daddy please, I’m sorry” Is all that would come out of Mariana’s mouth as she was scared of what her father would do to her.
“You made a fool of me, all I asked of you was to take your brothers place until he got well. Was that too much to ask?” King William asked as he sent his daughter sliding across the floor. Mariana was fighting back tears, because if she showed them they made it worse for her. “Dad I just want to be a kid, have fun. Not be locked up all day.” She said as her father yanked her up by her hair and brought her closer to him. “Oh my dear, but you are not normal. You’re a princess, and you must follow the code.” He said as he threw her on her giant bed. Mariana curled up into a ball as her father crawled on the bed and got close to her. “Now my sweet angel, you should know by now not to anger me.” He said as he began touching her. “GET AWAY FROM ME” She yelled as she hoped someone would come to her rescue.
After yelling at her father, she didn’t remember much as her father had hit her hard enough to knock her out. She woke up the next morning in a nightgown and bruises all over her. She just held her head at her knees and cried, wishing she was never born. With her father out of her room, and nothing on the agenda today, Mariana stayed in her room and looked out her window watching the gyspies preform. She would give anything to have a carefree life. She was determined to have one, but for now she would just have to endure the pain from her father.
[OOC; This had me crying as I wrote this. But I have been debating awhile writing Meg’s true past on why she hated her parents. Now you will understand. Thanks Ami for writing a Clopin Fan Fic, and making me wanting to write this one. I am going to write another one later today, on how Mariana and Clopin met.]
