Bells. Noise. Silence. Shadows. Noise. Bells.
Those were all the things he could perceive over the last few years. All around was taken with a single bullet and a tank of water. One day and all was turned to ash.
Now, he stood infront of the old church, accompanied by a calm man, carrying a golden cross around his neck. It was strange to see a white man hold his hand without disgust or contempt. He suspected him, but still...he could feel safety in a weird way.
"Father Adrian?" he whispered in a soft, innocent voice, clutching the taller man´s vest, looking at the church with a curious expression. "Is God in that old house?"
Adrian smiled at the young boy. It was heart-wrenching seeing someone so small become so alone. Why did it have to happen to this boy? He would never have chances like others had. Everyone knew of his background there, and even amongst church members, he could sense hatred for the boy.
"Yes, Abraham. He is. Always looking out for us."
"Does that mean mommy and Larn are with him there? Will I see them?" he looked up at Adrian with hope in his small, innocent eyes.
Adrian looked away for a second, fixing his glasses and sighing as he felt small tears from the sky start to collapse around them. "No, Abraham...your mother and brother are resting next to the Lord...but you cannot see them...yet." He tried to sound as reasonable as possible.
"What do I have to do to see them, then?" he retorted hopefully.
Adrian kneeled next to him and covered the boy with his hood, trying to smile. "God is in the rain, Abraham. He touches us...we feel him. Only most of us cannot understand the miracle of life...the miracle of being in the place He chose us to be. Abraham...close your eyes...feel them...feel the Lord. He holds all the warm your heart needs...and your loved ones are with him. Feel them too."
Abraham closed his eyes and breathed in, softly sneezing as he felt the humidity of the air get to him. He focused and stayed still for a few seconds, until he could no longer tell if it was rain or tears running down his cheeks. "I wanna see them, Father..."
he wrapped his hands around the priest´s clothes. "Why did they send me here? I wanna be with them...why are they there? And don´t come to me...it´s not fair..."
Adrian sighed and hugged him. "I´m sorry my son...but they´re in a better place now. One day you will meet them."
Abraham suddenly clenched his teeth and felt shadows around him start to move without control, slamming things. "If God cares so much for me...WHY CAN´T HE BRING THEM BACK?! WHY DID HE TAKE THEM FROM ME?!"
Adrian was going to talk but hesitated, looking down.
"Is it because I´m a slave? Is it because I am dark?" he started to lose his cool, pushing away from the priest. "Well, don´t worry...I am going to be someone. Someone important! I will be so important that no one will ever look down on me again! I don´t need friends! I don´t need a new family! I am alone..."
Starting to sob in anger he turned back and ran away from the priest and off into the long grounds of the church, eventually tripping and landing face first against the ground. Sobbing more as he felt his lip tear and blood come out of it he opened his eyes, seeing a small black spot walk through the rain and climb up the church.
He got up, ignoring the pain and coughed, watching it turn into a small smoke trace and fly against a star in the night sky.
"I finnally found him..." Hexxus chuckled as he vanished into Neverland.
