"Come Child," The elder mumbled, grabbing her hand forcefully.
Tiger Lily resisted, using her small fists to swat at him.
"No! I'm not going in there!"
Seven years old, she didn't need to see her dying mother.
"Come!" He growled, looking at her with pain filled eyes. "You need to be with them."
She sucked in a short breath, fighting back her tears. The elder pushed back the flaps of the chief's teepee, and pulled her in. Laying on the floor was her mother, her head propped up so she could see.
Her father kneeled next to her side, laying his slightly wrinkled cheek on her chest.
"Chief I-"
"What are you doing in here?" He said quietly not lifting his head, nor looking away from a dead gaze.
"The girl deserves to see..."
"The girl doesn't deserve anything!" He raised his voice slightly, pushing off the ground to sit up and face them. "Leave!"
"Sir..please..she's still very young."
"This is my wife!"
"and her mother." the elder yelled back, breathing heavily.
"How dare you-"
"Red-Cloud, stop it.." The woman stirred, her eyelashes fluttering.
The elder quickly let go of her hand and gave her a pat on the shoulder, pushing her closer to the woman.
"Come, Love." She smiled wearily reaching out her hand and gripping the girl's wrist.
"Mother.." She whispered, laying on the floor next to her.
"Shh.." The woman replied holding her daughter close to her. "I'm alright. I'll be okay."
The girl sobbed into her mother's skin, gripping the blanket that wrapped her with all her might.
She smelt of blood. It was almost too strong for her to handle. The horrible musty smell slithered through her nostrils, taunting her. She choked a little, and held her breath.
"How is her healing coming?" The chief broke their sentimental silence, with his firm and angry tone.
"I don't know, but-"
"Then go Check!" He shouted
The elder nodded and backed out of the tent.
"Tiger Lily..you should leave as well."
"Father, No!" She looked up at him with tear drenched cheeks.
"Please.." Her mother grunted.
The woman winced, and groaned a couple times, choking. She placed her other hand on her side. She pulled it away, and shut her eyes.
Despite her conscious telling her not to, Tiger Lily looked. Her mother's perfectly carved hand, was stained in crimson. She let out a small squeal and clung tighter to her mother, wrapping both her arms around her body.
The woman let out a cry, and tried to swallow the blood filling her mouth. She didn't want her daughter to watch her die. She gave Tiger Lily a nudge, which caused her to pull away quickly.
She opened her eyes, to see her mother, laying limp. Her eyes closed. Though beautiful as ever. She wasn't there. She was gone.
"Mother?" She said, covering her mouth to keep from screaming.
What she saw next, would be in her mind forever. Her sleeves, smeared with her own mother's blood. Her father, gripping her by the forearm and holding her up to his face. All while the woman laid there, quietly, peacefully, dead.
"What did you do?!" He hollered.
"Nothing Father! I didn't-"
"Get out! Get out!" He threw her towards the door forcefully, causing her to fall to the floor.
She let out a yelp, and scurried out of the tent, falling into the arms of a woman.
"Orchid!" Chief Red-cloud Shouted, loudly enough for the whole village to turn their heads and stare. "Orchid wake up please! Please!"
Tiger lily let out a wail, sinking out of the woman's arms and onto the floor.
"Princess, what-"
"No!" She screamed and stood up running into the forest.
((so she didn't kill her xDD just clearing that up.. ))
